A well-established family-owned business based in East Tamaki is seeking 2 qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanics.

These roles will be varied within their maintenance team to assist in servicing and repairs of heavy plant and equipment, small plant and equipment, and trucks. We need someone who can work not only within a team but also works well autonomously.

With two positions available, there will be one workshop-based position and one position off-site (company car and fuel card included for off-site position).

As part of your role, you will be:

  • Servicing of diesel engines - both manual and automatic gearboxes
  • Pre-checks and road worthiness checking
  • Maintenance of service machinery as and when required
  • Servicing of Tractors, Farm Machinery, Forklifts, Diesel Engines and Road Diesel Engines
  • Be able to use hand and power tools


To be successful in this role:

  • You must be a trade qualified diesel mechanic
  • Minimum 3 years' experience servicing diesel engines including Japanese and European engines
  • Minimum 3 years' experience servicing heavy civil machinery, including Caterpillar
  • Can think on your feet and confident in decision making
  • Confident in carrying out mechanical vehicle checks
  • Knowledge of auto electrics advantageous
  • Recognise problems and diagnose issues
  • Excellent communicator
  • Minimum Class 2 clean driving licence
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand - open work visa, residency, citizenship
