A well-established family-owned business based in East Tamaki is seeking a qualified Certificate of Fitness Inspector for heavy diesel. As a COF B Inspector at RTC, you will be vital in maintaining safety and compliance standards within the heavy diesel sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections of heavy vehicles to assess their mechanical condition and compliance with COF regulations
- Evaluate vehicle components such as brakes, suspension, steering, tires, and lights to ensure they meet safety standards
- Verify documentation and records to confirm vehicle ownership, registration, and compliance history.
- Identify and document any defects or non-compliance issues found during inspections and recommend corrective actions as necessary
- Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally to clients and stakeholders, guiding necessary repairs or maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including digital reports and documentation.
- Stay informed about COF regulations and industry standards changes and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
- Collaborate with team members to optimize inspection processes and enhance service quality
- Keep ahead of industry developments and updates in COF regulations to ensure compliance and best practices
Qualification and Experience:
- Possession of a Certificate of Fitness (COF) Inspector qualification issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), or willingness to qualify
- Proven experience in automotive inspection, with a focus on heavy vehicles
- COF A, WOF, COF PSV, and COF B PSV an advantage, not a necessity but a willingness to gain
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or non-compliance issues accurately
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including diagnostic software and testing devices
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
