Our locally owned & operated, reputable Dunedin client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven External Sales Consultant to join their fun & collaborative Dunedin team.

This role is primarily B2B field sales, servicing Dunedin & surrounding areas, including Central Otago. (If you live in Central Otago there is the option to be based in Queenstown or Wanaka).

As External Sales Consultant you will hold the responsibility for business development, negotiating orders for furniture for premises such as restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes, offices, health care providers, university accommodation and more.

You will also be responsible for smaller one-off items such as special builds and re upholstery work; working alongside designers and production with the factory to ensure these jobs are made to the correct specifications and in a timely manner.

Reporting to the Commercial Sales Manager, you will oversee the entire sales process from the initial sales call to post installation customer service.

You will enjoy being out on the road visiting clients, have a flair for design and/or furniture, an eye for detail, and hold exceptional customer service & account management skills.

Must haves:

  • The ability to travel: out of town travel is required (3-4 nights per month).
  • Hold a clean FULL Class 1 Drivers Licence
  • Hold (at minimum) NZ Permanent Residency

Key Responsibilities:

As External Sales Consultant, you will:

  • Undertake business development for new clients & service existing clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
  • Travel to customers' premises, providing professional consultations for a variety of commercial furniture.
  • Identify and understand customer needs to provide tailored solutions.
  • Work with internal designers & the production team.
  • Oversee the entire process from the initial sale to post install communications.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets through effective communication and negotiation.
  • Optimize sales and maximize profits, through developing leads and attaining targets.
  • Work as part of a wider sales team but be able to deliver and work independently.
  • Keep CRM systems up to date/complete necessary administration with accuracy.

  • Ability to create your own sales opportunities through cold calling when required.
  • Previous experience with furniture sales/joinery/natural wood products, or interior design (desirable)
  • Computer/administration/CRM experience
