Join us in this critical, hands-on leadership role as Livestock Logistics Manager, overseeing and managing stock movements across our Rearing and Poultry Farms around Otago and North Otago.

The role has a logistical focus, where your team will be responsible for livestock rotation ranging from the placement of day-old chicks, undertaking injection programmes, to depopulation, cleaning and general maintenance on our farms.

The Role

Reporting to the National Livestock Manager, your team will actively manage stock movements across leading poultry farms in and around Otago and North Otago, where you will be the key link working closely with the site farm managers to ensure production plans are achieved.

The role offers diversity, challenge, and an ability to make your mark. A competitive salary is offered along with a vehicle and fuel card. Home base is at our farm in Waikouaiti (40Km's north of Dunedin) and daily commuting from Dunedin is a viable option.

Key focus areas:

  • Accountable for the day-to-day management of the Livestock Transfer Team incorporating up to 18 employees.
  • Motivate, manage and develop your team to build capability and practical knowledge.
  • Ensure animal welfare, quality and H&S standards are embedded and maintained into your daily practises.
  • Apply practical solutions and bring a commercial perspective to day-to-day operations.
  • Foster individual and team engagement towards positive change, quality and productivity
  • Undertake advanced planning, to ensure operational goals are achieved on time, to budget.

As this is a senior leadership role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous agricultural/livestock experience
  • Leadership skills: ideally 10+ years' experience managing people
  • A style that leads by example
  • An ability to achieve team results
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong planning and organisational capabilities
  • Strong computer skills: particularly word and excel
  • Be biosecurity conscious and compliant
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Be physically fit and active
  • Hold a clean, full NZ Drivers Licence and be a NZ Permanent Resident
