About the role


We are on the hunt for a Protection Technician, reporting to the Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for providing testing and commissioning of substation assets with a strong focus around OH&S. You will have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic and desire to work collectively as a team to complete works efficiently.


Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Fault finding, installation, testing, programming, maintenance and repair of substation and electrical assets.
  • Managing substation, transformers and switch gear maintenance, repairs, and installations
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment
  • Carry out relevant quality checks and audits

About you

  • Bachelor in Electrical Engineering or an Electrical certificate or licence
  • Minimum 5+ years of industry experience in power assets
  • Hold registration (full, provisional, or limited) from the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) as an Electrician or Electrical Engineer
  • Practical industry-related experience is essential
  • Experience with HV, substation, or power transmission is desirable
  • Experience working on an electrical distribution network is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in underground cable testing
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong technical knowledge or industry standards and codes
