Job Summary

The Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic around construction sites or events, particularly in emergency situations. This role demands flexibility to respond to emergency call-outs, work both day and night shifts, and provide traffic management services across various times, including weekends and public holidays.


Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency call-outs and manage traffic flow to ensure safety and minimize disruption during emergency situations.
  • Traffic Management Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive traffic management plans tailored to the specific needs of the site or event. Ensure compliance with local traffic regulations and standards.
  • Site Assessment: Conduct site assessments to identify potential traffic-related issues and devise strategies to address them. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate traffic management considerations into site plans.
  • Safety and Compliance: Monitor traffic flow and safety measures on-site. Ensure all traffic management activities comply with relevant safety regulations and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and rectify potential hazards.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and supervise traffic management personnel, including flaggers and signage operators. Provide training and guidance to ensure adherence to traffic management protocols.
  • Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all traffic-related matters on-site. Communicate effectively with site personnel, local authorities, and the public to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and manage traffic-related incidents, including accidents or emergencies. Coordinate with emergency services and adjust traffic management plans as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of traffic management activities, incidents, and compliance. Prepare reports and documentation for internal use and regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of traffic management plans and procedures. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance traffic flow and safety.

Qualifications

  • Education: CAT A, B, C Practising Tickes Required
  • Experience: Proven experience in traffic management or site supervision, preferably within the construction or event management sectors.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Traffic Management Plan (TMP) certification or Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) certification.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of traffic management principles and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in traffic management software and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.


Working Conditions

  • Environment: Work is performed primarily on-site, which may include exposure to various weather conditions and construction site hazards.
  • Hours: Must be flexible to work both day and night shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Night shift allowance is provided.
  • Location: Position is based in Warkworth; must live on the North Shore.
  • Vehicle: Company vehicle provided for company use.
